The Cities with the Highest and Lowest Burglary Rates in Texas
Burglaries happen all over the United States, whether they are residential, commercial, or automotive burglaries. Since we are based in El Paso, Texas, we did some research on the cities with the highest and lowest burglary rates in Texas for you to be aware. We collected data from the years 2015, 2016, and half of 2017.
2015 Rates in Texas
In 2015, a study was performed by the name of Crime in the United States Report. They ranked 100 cities in Texas based on violent crimes and property crimes per 100,000 residents to determine the most dangerous city in Texas. Some of the results are as follows:
#1 most dangerous city in Texas: Cleveland with 8,993 property crimes
#10 most dangerous city in Texas: Houston with 10,753 property crimes
#50 most dangerous city in Texas: Waco with 3,738 property crimes
#88 most dangerous city in Texas: Austin with 3,770 property crimes
#100 most dangerous city in Texas: South Houston with 3,141 property crimes
Out of 100 cities, El Paso was not listed.
2016 Rates in Texas
In 2016 a study was performed by Houston Criminal Attorney on robberies per 100,000 residents in Texas cities. Part of the results are as follows:
Houston: 458.84 robberies
Amarillo: 143.13 robberies
Odessa: 130.26 robberies
El Paso 61.00 robberies
Frisco 14.09 robberies
Out of 34 cities, Frisco had the least robberies per 100,000 residents and Houston had the most with 458.84 robberies per 100,000 residents.
2017 Burglary Rates in Texas
This year, the Home Security Resource performed a study on cities with the most property crime in the United States. For this post, we focused only on the burglary rates in Texas from the list. San Antonio ranked #12 on the most property crimes in the U.S. with 5,417.8 property crimes per 100,000 residents. El Paso ranked #9 on the lowest property crimes in the U.S. with 2,141.8 property crimes per 100,000 residents. On the safest city list with the lowest of the lowest property crimes statewide, Flower Mound, Texas ranked #10 with only 157.3 burglaries per 100,000 residents.
